Nrl 2024 try scorer Prediction banner

With the new season just a week away, we've unveiled our top team try scorer predictions for 2024. We've tried to not only predict the most likely to cross, but also uncover those value picks, with odds that stand out as potential opportunities.

Be sure to read until the end to see our top multi pick. Oh and if you're trying to find these markets, the only bookies that seem to offering it at the moment are Bet365 and Sportsbet.

Broncos

With Selwyn Cobbo moving to the centres, Corey Oates and Deine Mariner are left fighting for the last remaining wing spot. This makes Broncos a bit of a tough one to pick. That said, Jesse Arthurs is likely your best bet here. He is the only player who is a definite to play on the wing and had the most consistent form in 2023. Although Cobbo is the tied favourite at $3, it's an unknown how many tries he'll score from the centres.

We're a little unsure how Oates is so short at $3.75, considering he didn't score a single try last season from the wing. If Oates doesn't perform, he may be replaced by Deine Mariner, who scored 4 tries from just 3 games towards the end of last season, making him a great value pick.

If Mariner gets game time, he will win this.

We've also got Ezra Mam as our long-shot at $26. For a five-eighth to win this would be insane, however given that he scored 18 tries last season (2nd most of the Broncos), and the fact the Broncos may be without a stand-out try scorer, some one like Mam could snag it.

Bulldogs

With the new addition of arguably the best centre in the game, Stephen Crichton, it's difficult to know the effect he will have on the back line. It's most likely he'll be starting at fullback, which he hasn't played in first grade before.

Although he may hit the ground running, we predict it'll take some time to get used the position meaning he may not score as many tries as the wingers.

It's hard to go past the always-reliable, try-scoring machine Josh Addo-Carr at $1.36. Even though he had a somewhat quieter 2023 season, with only 11 tries, the addition of Crichton this season, could very easily see this number double.

If you're looking for value, we think Blake Wilson at $10 could be a better bet than the Jacob Kiraz at $7. Kiraz was also a little quiet last year, scoring only 6 tries. We wouldn't be surprised to see Wilson taking the starting lineup early this season.

Cowboys

The favourite, Murray Taulagi at $2.60, had a relatively quiet 2023 season, managing to cross the line just 9 times. Kyle Feldt at $3.50 meanwhile scored 13 tries, however he has the highly-electric Semi Valemei putting pressure on his spot this year. Valemei managed to score 9 tries from just 9 games last season, whenever he replaced Feldt on the wing, so it's difficult to know how many games each of them will play. If Feldt were to get injured, we'd pick Valemei to take this market out, but we can't be confident on this one.

Our long-shot is Zac Laybutt, who looks to be starting in the Centres this year. He scored 3 tries from just 4 games at the end of last season, and could be a solid outside chance at taking this if tries are shared evenly amongst the team.
